Nepal Secours in Liege

ENG: Today I was invited by the gouverneur of the province of Liege to the meeting with the ambassador of Nepal. The Belgian NGO Nepal Secours exists now for 20 years and it was to occasion to summarize 20 years of projects and collaboration with Nepal.

FRA: Aujourd'hui je suis allé à Liège pour assister à une réception en l'honneur des 20 ans de Népal Secours et du travail et projets accomplis par cette ONG Belge. Le gouverneur de Liège avait invité l'ambassadeur du Népal.

Mont St-Michel, Chartres, Paris

ENG: I left Lorient and drove to the Mount Saint-Michel, one of the the most seen attraction in France (3 millions, each year, UNESCO world heritage site). Except for the cars and tourist busses, you really feel you're going back in time there on the rock. By Sunday noon I reached Chartres where Pauline, Elisabeth and Damien arrived back from there 2 months journey driving from Paris to Jerusalem and back. I sponsored them by lending them my HD camera and tripod as they did a few interviews of people along the way related to their religions and beliefs. I finished my day in Paris at the Gday Sundays.

FRA: J'ai quitté Lorient et roulé vers le Mont Saint-Michel (patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO). A aprt les voitures et les bus de touristes, on se sent vraiment hors du temps. Dimanche midi, à Chartres je retrouve Pauline, Elisabeth et Damien qui terminent leur 2 mois de trajet de Paris à Jérusalem aller et retour. Je les ai sponsorisé en prêtant ma caméra HD et mon trépied qu'ils ont utilisé pour réaliser des interviews de gens tout au long du parcours sur leur religions et croyances. J'ai terminé ma journée par Paris aux Gdays Sundays.

Lorient in Bretagne

ENG: I have been driving to Lorient this Saturday, about 800km south of Brussels. I wanted to see again the Polar Vessel TARA, which left for a 3 year journey around the world to study the Oceans and how much CO2 the hold. I also met Pascal Bouche, an old friend from my hometown Mouscron. He will leave with his entire family (wife, 2 young girls and baby boy around mid-November on his boat and sail around the world in 7 years for his educational project Globe@Child. His 3 kids will be the adventurers to discover the world and reunite all other kids together on this wiki communicating platform.

FRA: J'ai roulé jusque Lorient ce samedi, près de 800km au Sud de Bruxelles. Je voulais revoir le vaisseau polaire TARA qui repart pour 3 ans autour du monde. Les scientifiques vont étudier les Océans et combien de CO2 il contient. J'ai aussi revu Pascal Bouche, un pote de ma ville natale de Mouscron. A la mi-novembre, il part avec sa petite famille (épouse, 2 filles et fils) autour du monde à la voile pendant 7 ans pour son projet d'éducation Globe@Child. Ses " enfants seront des aventuriers qui découvriront le monde et réuniront tous les autres enfants, ensemble sur cette plateforme de communication wiki.

Royal Geographical Society EXPLORE 2009

ENG: I just received confirmation that I am enrolled for the EXPLORE 2009 weekend in London. It's 2 day program organised with the RGS and IBG to increase/learn skills in expedition planning, research and of course meet famous English explorers. Jeremy Roumian from the PR and logistic pal from the Chocolate Sherpa expedition is joining too.

FRA: Je viens de recevoir la confirmation de ma participation au weekend EXPLORE 2009 à Londres. Pendant les 2 jours du programme de la RGS with IBG (Royal Geographical Society with Institute of British Geographers) , des cours et séminaires pour améliorer/apprendre à planifier une expédition et évidemment rencontrer des célèbres explorateurs Anglais. Jérémy Roumian de l'expé Chocolate Sherpa y sera aussi.

Dodentocht

ENG: I participated at the Dodentocht but for the past weeks I had an injury (Osteitis Pubis, a sort of tendonitis) so I did my best and a good start but when the pain settled in, I became reasonable and left the challenge. Hopefully, I'll finish it next year.

FRA: J'ai participé à la Marche de la mort (Dodentocht) mais j'ai abandonnée suite à une pubalgie (sorte de tendinite). J'ai fait de mon mieux mais quand la douleur était trop intense il était résonable d'arrêter. Je ferai mieux l'année prochaine.

Conference Kiwanis Mouscron

ENG: I just did another conference about the Simpson desert trek at the Mouscron's Kiwanis club. I received many greetings and heaps of questions, so I guess they enjoyed the moment as much as I did.

FRA: J'ai présenté ce soir la traversée du désert de Simpson au club du Kiwanis de Mouscron. J'ai reçu de nombreux compliments et questions, je crois donc que l'assemblée à autant passé un bon moment que moi.

Dreamshake tiny conference

ENG: I just went to the DreamShake Apero, a place where dreamers can gather. The idea was to give a 5 minute talk about the dream realized under the Chocolate Sherpa project in the Himalayas.

FRA: Je reviens du DreamShake Apéro, endroit où les rêveurs peuvent se rencontrer et trouver des ressources pour réaliser leurs rêves. J'y ai fait une intervention de 5 minutes pour parler du projet Chocolate Sherpa. La RTBF présente a fait un petit interview pour l'émission Au Quotidien.

New Panoramic Photo record

ENG: My last BIG 57.3 Megapixel Panoramic Photo has been beaten. I'm busy doing the panoramics photos of the Himalayas from the Chocolate Sherpa expedition. New record is now is 85 Megapixels coming from 24 photos of 12 mpix each.

FRA: Je viens de battre mon record de taille de grande photo panoramique. Le précédent record était de 57.3 megapixels. La nouvelle a été tirée dans l'Himalaya lors de mon expédition Chocolate Sherpa. Elle est composée de 24 photos de 12 mégapixels et fait à présent 85 mégampixels.

Back from Everest expedition

ENG: Well, I'm back to work after a week of sickness after my 1 month in Nepal. I'm already starting to plan my expeditions for the next 2 years. But here are some photos taken mainly in Everest Base camp. I met there Apa Sherpa, who just climbed Everest for the 19th time yesterday (no one has climbed that peak so much). Next to us is Joseph from my "Chocolate Sherpa expedition" Unfortunately N. became affected with AMS (Altitude Mountain Sickness) and had to turn back and go down just 2 hour from the base camp. I experienced AMS as well 3 days before him, but I got more lucky and could finish my walk I had started in Katmandu. I walked over 400 km and our team organized the highest chocolate tasting in the world to raise funds for the Nepal Mobile Hospital project. It was of course Belgian chocolate and the new super antioxydant ACTICOA chocolate from Barry-Callebaut. You'll find more info about this on the blog and you can download the project brochure in 15 languages and send it to the world. Feel also free to make a donation for this Mobile Hospital.

FRA: Je suis de retour au boulot après une semaine de maladie depuis le retour du mois passé au Népal. J’ai commencé à planifier les expéditions pour les 2 prochaines années. Voici déjà quelques photos du camp de base de l’Everest. J’y ai rencontré Apa sherpa, qui vient de réussir sa 19ème ascension de l’Everest hier (personne ne l’a gravi autant de fois que lui). A côté de nous, Joseph de l’expédition "Chocolate Sherpa". Malheureusement, N. a eu le mal des montagnes 2 heures avant d’arriver au camp de base et a fait demi-tour. Moi aussi j’avais la maladie depuis 3 jours déjà mais j’ai dû être plus chanceux et j’ai pu terminer la marche commencée à Katmandou. J’ai donc parcouru plus de 400km et l’équipe à organisé la plus haute dégustation de chocolat au Monde pour récolter des fonds pour le projet de l’hôpital mobile. Le chocolat était évidemment Belge et c’était le nouveau chocolat super anti-oxydant ACTICOA de Barry-Callebaut.
