360 Photography in expeditions and trips

EN: I've been pioneering the use of 360 photography during unsupported expeditions since 2015. So going on expedition and deciding to take an extra 360 camera. It wasn't the idea of "hey let's use 360 degree content to do a marketing film or buzz". Below a few maps I've completed in the past days. If you access them by the links below, you'll have the map + possibility to see the 360 photos by zooming and clicking on a "pink camera icon". Enjoy.

FR: J'ai été pionnier de l'utilisation de photography immersive en 360 degrés en expédition en autonomie depuis 2015. Cela veut dire partir en expé et décider d'emporter un appareil 360 supplémentaire. Aucunement une idée de "Allons faire de la 360 comme contenu pour une opéraion marketing ou buzz". Summit of Margherita peak in the Rwenzori - Uganda

EN: This is 7 March last week, Roland Monsegu (based in Ireland CaminoWays.com) and I with our two guides (Samuel, Edson) reached the summit of Uganda. I was recruited by the editor of the Inflight magazine of Brussels Airlines to write about this climb for the May issue.

FR: Le 7 Mars, semaine dernière, Roland Monsegu (Franco-Irlandais de CaminoWays.com) et moi-même avons atteint le sommet de l'Ouganda (et RDC). J'ai été attitré par BrusselsAirlines (BA) pour écrire un article sur ce trek et ascension. Ce sera publié dans le magazine Inflight de BA en Mai.

For this trip I used the Berghen Karakorum trekking boots They were completely waterproof against the mud and the water. After the trip they still looked brand new. Excellent European made quality.

Hallerbos in blossom

EN: I cycled to Hallerbos to photography the Blue Forest. I had not used my Canon 450D DSLR since 2012 as the autofocus in broken and in expedition I need to be quick, no time to take other shots. Here I took the time to shot manually. No photoshop and no filters. You can see more Blue Forest Hallerbos photos on my facebook page including 360 degrees photography shot my the Panono camera.

FR: J'ai roulé à vélo jusqu'au bois de Halle pour photographier la Forêt Bleue. Je n'avais pas sorti mon Reflex Canon 450D depuis 2012 car l'autofocus est naze; et en expédition, je dois être rapide, pas le temps pour prendre plusieurs photos. Ici, j'ai pu prendre le temps de tout faire en manuel. Pas de photoshop ni filtre. Travel Storytelling Festival

EN: I went to the first edition of the Travel Storytelling Festival this evening. It feels great Belgium has finally a real festival celebrating travel and adventure. I saw a few friends from Belgium and abroad like Dave Cornthwaite.

FR: En cette soirée, j'ai été à la première édition du Travel Storytelling Festival à Bruxelles. La Belgique a enfin un festival pour les voyageurs et aventuriers. J'y ai revu des amis Belges et étrangers comme Dave Cornthwaite.

Expedition Sailing boats

 

EN: I was in Paris on the Seine. I couldn't visit La Boudeuse but I was allowed to visit the inside of TARA. I took spherical 360 degrees photos of it. First times I was TARA in 2009 and 2008. I then went to the Salon du Nautique Paris (also in 2014, 2009 and 2008) and saw la Louloute 2 of Yvan Bourgnon, the Pilot Fish Submarine prototype and talked to Nicolas Jarossay who will attempt crossing the Atlantic on SUP next month. Friday morning I went to visit Rémi Bricka, the singer, orchestra-man and adventurer. I'll write the account of the interview on MeetExplorers.

FR: J'étais à Paris sur la Seine. Je n'ai pas pu visiter La Boudeuse mais j'ai été autorisé à visiter l'intérieur de TARA. J'en ai pris des photos sphériques 360 degrés. J'avais déjà vu TARA en 2009 et 2008. J'ai ensuite été au Salon du Nautique Paris (aussi en 2014, 2009 et 2008) et j'ai vu la Louloute 2 d'Yvan Bourgnon, le prototype sousmarin Pilot Fish et j'ai discuté avec Nicolas Jarossay qui va tenter de traverser l'Atlantique en SUP le mois prochain. Vendredi matin j'ai rendu visite à Rémi Bricka, le chanteur, homme-orchestre et aventurier. Je vais écrire l'interview sur MeetExplorers.
