Explorers Club talks and Belgium embassy Australia

 

 

EN: I'm traveling Australia working on several projects like the "MeetExplorers wiith LouPhi show" where I interview Explorers. It's an outdoor conversation show. I also gave in the past months a few talks for the members of the Explorers Club and also for the embassy of Belgium in Canberra.

FR: Je voyage en Australie et je travaille sur plusieurs projets comme le "MeetExplorers wiith LouPhi show" où j'interviewe des explorateurs. Il s'agit d'une émission de conversation en plein air. Ces derniers mois, j'ai également donné quelques conférences pour les membres de l'Explorers Club et pour l'ambassade de Belgique à Canberra.

Outdoor by ISPO 2024 Munich

  

 

EN: I went to Outdoor by ISPO this year. Last time was in 2019 so first time after the pandemic. I saw wechsel started to make sleeping bags, a few new dehydrated food like TRAIL from Denmark. A swiss company making coffee in tube for the outdoors and had the privilege to speak with Roland Tyson, the founder of SeatoSummit.

FR : Cette année, je me suis rendu à Outdoor by ISPO. La dernière fois, c'était en 2019, donc la première fois après la pandémie. I saw wechsel a commencé à faire des sacs de couchage, quelques nouveaux aliments déshydratés comme TRAIL du Danemark. Festival Into The Blue

   

EN: I went to the film Festival Into the Blue. I was happy to reconnect with Anbé (Anne-Bénédicte Hannotte) from adventure Podcast Storylific and Sébastien Roubinet. We also had a call with Edouard De Keyser who is sailing around the globe with no fossil fuels. Unfortunately due to some damage to his boat he had to the the Global Solo Challenge race but he will ersume his navigation in a few months from now. His boat is currently in Adelaide, Australia.

FR: Je suis allé au festival du film Into the Blue. J'ai été heureux de retrouver Anbé (Anne-Bénédicte Hannotte) du podcast d'aventure Storylific et Sébastien Roubinet. Nous avons également eu un appel avec Edouard De Keyser qui fait le tour du monde à la voile sans utiliser de combustibles fossiles. Malheureusement, en raison d'une avarie sur son bateau, il a dû interrompre la course du Global Solo Challenge, mais il reprendra sa navigation dans quelques mois. Son bateau se trouve actuellement à Adélaïde, en Australie.

EN: In Paris, I reconnected with Caroline Moireaux - Pieds Libres at ABM, Aventure du Bout du Monde (Festival Globetrotters). We met in 2008 and she told me about the idea to walk around the globe in 10 years. She managed to do it in 8 years with some boats, paddling and some cycling as well but she made it. She's got a life time of experience to share. I hope to bring her to Brussels for a conference in 2024.

FR: À Paris, j'ai repris contact avec Caroline Moireaux - Pieds Libres à l'ABM, Aventure du Bout du Monde (Festival Globetrotters). Nous nous sommes rencontrés en 2008 et elle m'a parlé de son idée de faire le tour du monde à pied en 10 ans. Elle a réussi à le faire en 8 ans avec quelques bateaux, de la pagaie et un peu de vélo, mais elle a réussi. Elle a toute une vie d'expérience à partager. J'espère la faire venir à Bruxelles pour une conférence en 2024.

Jane Goodall in Brussels

 

ENG: I first attended a public lecture of Jane Goodall organized by the Jane Goodall Institute Belgium in May 2011. I knew about her since joining The Explorers Club in 2010. I was made ambassador in 2011 and organized the first Roots and Shoots cleanup activities in April 2012 with dropouts teenagers. The event was then sponsored by my employer ALTRAN. I've met Jane Goodall many times in the past 11 years. Last time was in 2017. I was at the (ECAD) Explorers Club Annual Dinner in 2019 and then in 2020 I was supposed to see her in Brussels and NYC but the Pandemic hit. This weekend she did an another amazing lecture and I inspired also those coming to her gala.

FRA: J'ai assisté pour la première fois à une conférence publique de Jane Goodall organisée par l'Institut Jane Goodall Belgique en mai 2011. Je connaissais son existence depuis que j'ai rejoint l'Explorers Club en 2010. J'ai été nommée ambassadeur en 2011 et j'ai organisé les premières activités de nettoyage Roots and Shoots en avril 2012 avec des adolescents en décrochage scolaire. L'événement était alors sponsorisé par mon employeur ALTRAN. J'ai rencontré Jane Goodall à plusieurs reprises au cours des 11 dernières années. La dernière fois, c'était en 2017. J'ai assisté au dîner annuel de l'Explorers Club (ECAD) en 2019, puis en 2020, je devais la voir à Bruxelles et à New York, mais la pandémie a frappé. Ce week-end, elle a donné une autre conférence extraordinaire et a aussi inspiré ceux qui sont venus à son gala.

François d'Haene at Liège conference

 

EN:  I joined a conference organised by the running store TRAKKS in Liège with the presence and films of François d'Haene. It was followed by a wine tastig session and thenI joined the team to the restaurant.

FR: J'ai participé à une conférence organisée par le magasin de running TRAKKS à Liège avec la présence et les films de François d'Haene. La conférence a été suivie d'une dégustation de vins et ensuite j'ai rejoint l'équipe au restaurant.

Cabaret du Club Alpin

 

 

EN: I went to the CABaret festival of the CAB (Club Alpin Belge) in Freyr (near Dinant) by cycling with my shitty bike from Brussels to the forest where I it located. The place passed the climbing cliffs and I went there mainly to meet Belgian adventurers like Arnaud Maldague (The Manneken Trip) and Gilles Denis (Nanok Expedition) I camped in my tent, a day away from the screen.

EN : Je suis allé au festival CABaret du CAB (Club Alpin Belge) à Freyr (près de Dinant) en pédalant avec mon vélo de merde de Bruxelles à la forêt où le festival se trouvait. L'endroit passait devant les falaises d'escalade et j'y suis allé principalement pour rencontrer des aventuriers belges comme Arnaud Maldague (The Manneken Trip) et Gilles Denis (Nanok Expedition). J'ai campé dans ma tente, une journée loin de l'écran.

Les engagés avec Thomas Tirtiaux

EN: I listened to Thomas Tirtiaux who with 2 other friends did a cold trek in the dark to Cape North. Hell launch soon a crowdfunding campaign to produce a 26min film about this expedition.

FR: J'ai écouté Thomas Tirtiaux qui, avec deux autres amis, a fait une randonnée dans le froid et dans l'obscurité jusqu'au Cap Nord. L'enfer va bientôt lancer une campagne de financement de la foule pour produire un film de 26 minutes sur cette expédition.

Guirec Soudee et monique la poule en conférence

 

EN: Two evenings of films about sailing at the Into the Blue festival. I finally met Guirec Soudée and his hen Monique. They sailed around the globe with the North West passage, a Greenland overwintering and visiting Antarctica. In the top 50 of adventure films I have seen. A deserved standing ovation from the Brussels crowd.

FR : Deux soirées de films sur la voile au festival Into the Blue. J'ai enfin rencontré Guirec Soudée et sa poulet Monique. Ils ont fait le tour du monde avec le passage du Nord-Ouest, un Groenland qui hiverne et visite l'Antarctique. Dans le top 50 des films d'aventure que j'ai vus. Une ovation méritée de la part de la foule bruxelloise.

François Englert Nobel Prize in Physics

EN: François Englert (Belgian) received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2013. I ended my engineering studies in 1999 so my knowledge stopped there. He explained rapidly the theory (Boson of Higgs) and I guess less than 5% of the audience understood half of his speech, me included.

FR: François Englert (belge) a reçu le prix Nobel de physique en 2013. J'ai terminé mes études d'ingénieur en 1999, mes connaissances se sont donc arrêtées là. Il a expliqué rapidement la théorie (le boson de Higgs) et je suppose que moins de 5% du public a compris la moitié de son discours, moi y compris.

Back in Belgium - Thomas De Dorlodot

EN: Back in Belgium, not ready for my second winter in a row but winter brings conferences. I just caught up with Tom (Thomas) De Dorlodot and his SEARCH PROJECTS. People believe I'm mostly outside Belgium, well I'm mainly in Belgium while he's really mainly outside the country so when I can meet him, I take the opportunity.

FR: De retour en Belgique, pas vraiment prêt pour mon 2ème hiver d'affilé mais l'hiver amène les conférences. J'ai recu Tom De Dorlodot qui a fait une conférence et un update de SEARCH PROJECTS.

Beaucoup pensent que je suis tous le temps en dehord de Belgique mais je suis principalement dans le pays, lui c'est l'inverse il revient quelques mois par an donc se croiser est toujours une bonne chose et une opportunité à saisir.

Outdoor fair - 25 years

EN: It's the 25 years of the Outdoor Fair in Friedrichshafen. A cruise and supper was organized on the Lake of Constance (Bodensee). I also met my sponsors and found new ones while checking out new gear. I also briefly adventurer Denis Katzer who's traveling around the globe and has done many expeditions with camels, horses, 4WD and even with elephants.

FR: La foire Outdoor de Friedrichshafen fête ses 25 ans. Une croisière - souper était organisée sur le Lac de Constance. J'ai aussi rencontré mes sponsors et trouvé de nouveaux tout en découvrant les nouveaux produits. J'ai également rencontré brièvement l'aventurier Denis Katzer, qui voyage autour du monde et a effectué de nombreuses expéditions avec des chameaux, des chevaux, en 4x4 et même avec des éléphants.

 

Nina Caprey at MountExpo Ghent

EN: I went to Ghent to check out some workshops and meet potential sponsors at the MountExpo. I also attended the end of climber Nina Caprez. She shared with us low and high moments of the past years. I love the fact she really enjoys climbing and the mountains and it's all what matters.

FR: J'ai été à Gand à MountExpo pour assister à quelques workshops et rencontrer des sponsors potentiels. J'ai également écouté la grimpeuse Nina Caprez. Elle a partagé avec nous ses moments bas et hauts des dernières années. J'ai apprécié qu'elle soit vraiment une personne qui aime la grimpe et la montagne. Et c'est tout ce qui compte pour elle.

Into the Blue Sailing Festival

EN: I attended during 2 days the sailing film festival Into The Blue in Brussels. I reconnected with my friend Yvan Bourgnon and met Roland Jourdan, famous sailor as well and founder of We-Explore. (Middle of the photo)

FR: J'ai assisté durant 2 jours au festival de film Into the Blue. J'ai revu Yvan Bourgnon et rencontré un autre célèbre navigateur Roland Jourdain qui a aussi lancé We-Explore. (Milieu de la photo)

Conférence Stéphane Dugast - L'astrolabe

EN: I attended the conference of French author Stéphane Dugast at TERDAV (adventure travel agency). He presented his book at the famous french Antarctic ship: L'Astrolabe.

FR: J'ai été à voir la conférence et présentation du livre de l'auteur Français Stéphane Dugast sur l'Astrolabe, le célèbre vaisseau Antarctique.

Desert cart at EOFT Brussels

EN: I exhibited the Camwheel, my Simpson Desert cart at the EOFT (European Outdoor Festival Tour) in Brussels.

FR: J'ai exposé ma Camwheeel, la charette du désert de Simpson à l'EOFT à Bruxelles.

Camwheel at the Maurice L'Aventure festival

EN: I exhibited the my CamWheel desert cart at the Brussels Maurice l'Aventure film festival. I also had a small booth to talk about KayaClean.

FR: J'ai exposé ma charrette du désert "CamWheel" à Bruxelles au festival de film d'aventure et de voyage Maurice L'aventure. J'avais aussi un petit stand pour expliquer KayaClean.

Jane Goodall film and gala

EN: During 2 evenings, Jane Goodall shared her life moment with the screening of her film, then with a lecture followed by a gala at the museum of natural science in Brussels.

FR: Lors de 2 soirées, Jane Goodall a partagé ses moments de vie via son nouveau film, ensuite via une conférence suivie par un gala situé au musée des sciences naturelles à Bruxelles.

Ocean Film Festival - Sustainability conference

EN: Good inspiration at this conference with speakers: Craig Leeson (A plastic Ocean director), Prof. Richard Thompson (Marine Biology, Marine Litter), Hugo Tagholm (Surfers Against Sewage), Jim Osgood (CEO Klean Kanteen) and Maria Westerbos (Founder of Plastic Soup Foundation).

FR: Soirée d'inspiration et de discussion avec des orateurs. Voir liste ci-deussus.

Kofi Annan JCI World Congress and KayaClean

  

EN: For my last activity as a JCI member, I gave a talk on my expeditions and introduced KayaClean to the audience. The week 's highlight in Amsterdam was the talk of Kofi Annan and the clean up day on the canals of the city.

FR: Pour ma dernière activité en tant que membre JCI, j'ai donné une conférence sur mes expéditions ainsi qu'une introduction à KayaClean. Un des moment fort de la semaine fût l'intervention de Kofi Annan et une opération de nettoyage des canaux d'Amsterdam en bateau.
