EN: Finally. I've had a window of time (and good weather) to drive to Tintigny and packraft, paddle the stretch of the Semois river to Chiny. This leg can be done only between 1 october and 15 march. Today was the last day. It had been at least 5 years I wanted to go. Not it's done. I had a great time although my packraft is leaking (found the leak in the -TZIP) and I had to add air every 45-60 minutes. I was the only paddler until the end where a second packraft passed when I had stopped in Chiny.
I saw 2 sleeping wild boars and although I made almost no noise with my paddling they woke up, looked at me for 2 seconds and ran away. There are a few trees jamming the river and I capsized once so I'm happy to use my Kokatat expedition drysuit. I hope later this year to paddle the entire rest of the Semois river.
FR: Enfin. J'ai trouvé un créneau (et du beau temps) pour me rouler vers Tintigny et faire du packraft sur le tronçon de la Semois jusqu'à Chiny. Ce parcours ne peut être effectué qu'entre le 1er octobre et le 15 mars. Aujourd'hui, c'était le dernier jour. Cela faisait au moins 5 ans que je voulais y aller. C'est enfin fait. Je me suis bien amusé, même si mon packraft prend l'eau (j'ai trouvé la fuite dans le T-ZIP) et que j'ai dû regonfler toutes les 45 à 60 minutes. J'étais le seul pagayeur jusqu'à la fin, où un deuxième packraft m'a dépassé alors que je m'étais arrêté à Chiny.
J'ai vu deux sangliers endormis et, bien que je n'aie fait pratiquement aucun bruit en pagayant, ils se sont réveillés, m'ont regardé pendant deux secondes et se sont enfuis. Il y a quelques arbres qui obstruent la rivière et j'ai chaviré une fois, je suis donc content d'avoir utilisé ma combinaison étanche Kokatat Expedition. J'espère pouvoir parcourir à la rame le reste de la Semois plus tard dans l'année.
