A 600km kayak journey on the Belgian waterways. Seeing Belgium from a new viewpoint.

Iceland Trek - Summer & Winter (Summer part: 12/07/2010-30/07/2010)

A solo unsupported trek between the extreme lattitudes from North to South. The winter should follow the same route as the summer part with with ski and hauling a special homemade liveable pulka.

Chocolate Sherpa (11/04/2009-10/05/2009)

A walking trek from Kathmandu to Everest base camp (EBC) and back to Lukla. 400 km carrying chocolate and distributing it to the sherpas. Organize at EBC the highest tasting of chocolate in the world. All funds collected goes directly to the Nepal orthopeadic hospital locaed in Kathmandu.

Simpson desert trek. (16/07/2008-21/08/2008)

World first unsupported crossing of the most arid desert of Australia. It's a solo offtrack North-South walk hauling a homemade desert cart and passing through the geographic center of this desert.

Wild Mountains of Tasmania. (21/12/2006-07/02/2007)

Walk accross the Tasmanian wilderness, recognized as World Heritage Area by the UNESCO, while climbing the most inspiring summits. I'll leave at Cradle Valley in the North and try to reach the South at Cockle Creek.

The Great Sand Island. (01/10/2006 - 09/10/2006)

First solo unsupported walk of Fraser Island, the biggest sand island in the world. I started South, walked to the Northern tip, which is almost unexplored. From the end, I had to find a four wheel drive car to drop me back on the south to leave the Island.

The Mountains of the Outback. (04/09/2006 - 15/09/2006)

First solo unsupported walk across the West MacDonnell National Park. Starting West and walking East to finish in Alice Springs. Underway I climbed many mountains and walked on the famous Larapinta trail (Snake in aboriginal language).

Solo traveling to discover the nature wonders (landscape, wild life) and culture of 5 Oceanic countries. (July 2004-June 2005)

I drove over 43.000km, walked around 2000km and dived about 100 times. I took photos and mini videoclips. Diving and hiking information to be found in respective sections.

TRAVELS - VISITS - DISCOVERY
EUROPE

Belgium : I cannot say I know very well my home country because maybe if it's small, it has heaps of things to see: from dense cities with a rich past, located mainly in the Flanders, to the Walloon Ardennes and of course the Brussels area. Cities I went to several times: Brugge, Ghent, Ieper, Liège, Antwerp, Louvain-la-neuve, Charleroi, Namur. I know well Tournai and Mouscron. I studied in Brussels, Leuven and Antwerp.

France : Country that I didn't visit much. In 1993, 750 km cycling with the boy scouts doing the tour of the Provence. We had self-made trolleys attached to our bikes by windsurfing rubber diabolos. I can travel around in Lille and Paris. I did also 3 days of canyoning and 2 days on the GR10 in the Pyrénées.

The Netherlands : In 1996, I cycled to Amsterdam with a friend, the trolley attached to the bike. 560 km in 6 days, going via Vlissingen and coming back via Utrecht-Breda-Antwerp.

Spain : 1 week in Madrid including 1 day to Salamanca and 1 day to Segovia. 4 weeks in Salamanca to improve my Spanish. Visit of the costa del sol (Marbella, Malaga, Cadiz, Seville and Grenade). Visit of the Universal Expo Sevilla 1992.

Portugal : Universal expo in Lisbon in 98.

Switzerland : Visit of Porrentruy and Gruyères (H.R. Giger museum).

Austria : 1 day in Salzburg

Germany : 5 days in Berlin, 3 days at the universal expo of Hanover 2000.

Finland : 2 days in Jyväskylä, 1 day in Tampere.

Sweden : 3 days in Stockholm

United Kingdom : Several weekends in London, 2 days in Colchester, 10 days on the Isle of White.

Ireland : 5 days in Dublin. 4 days in Killarney

Czech Republic : 1 week in Prague

Italy : 8 days to visit Venice, Bologna, Florence, Sienna and Pisa.

Luxembourg : 1 day visit.

Iceland : see Iceland trek expedition.

Denmark : 1 day to visit a friend adventurer.

 

AMERICA

United States of America : A family exchange during July 1995 in Michigan not far from Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo. 1 week in Arizona. Then July 2000, 3 weeks from San Francisco to Vancouver (Canada) with a long stay in Seattle.

Canada : Brief stay in Vancouver to meet a friend on Vancouver Island (Nanaimo, Courtney, Victoria)

French Guyana : Summer 2001, 3 weeks in Kourou at a friend who's working on Ariane 5. I was working on my thesis during the week and visiting during the weekend (Cayenne, Iles St Joseph, du diable)

Cuba : 2003, 1 week between Varedero (La Havana, Pinar del Rio, Vinales) and the far west part of the country (Maria la Gorda)

French Polynesia : 3 weeks to visit Tahiti (Papeete to Taravao), Moorea, Bora Bora and Rangiroa. Then 2 weeks in the Marquesas achipelago (Nuku-Hiva, Ua-Pou, Ua-Huka, Hiva-Oa, Tahuata and Fatu-Hiva) on the steps of Jacques Brel and Paul Gauguin. 1 day on Takapoto and 1 day on Fakarava.

 

ASIA

Singapore : I worked in lived there during 4 months in 2002.

Malaysia : Several trips to learn diving. Visit of Kuala Lumpur and Melacca. The Islands: Perhentian, Redang, Aur and Tioman.

Indonesia : 5 days in Bali.

Thailand : 3 days in Bangkok and 4 weeks free work in a new divecenter in Pattaya.

Cambodia : 3 days in Angkor Wat and Siem Reap. One of the first visitors (first Belgian I was told) of a remote library temple lost in the Jungle hours of motorcycling from Siem Reap.

AFRICA

Morocco : 1 day in Tanger, after crossing from Gibraltar. 1 week in the high Atlas & Marrakech.
